We've all got to start somewhere...

For the last several years, I've been trying to move towards being more sustainable. Living in flat shares with several people, moving into a smaller sharing space with one other and now sharing a home with my partner, it's always been something that I've tried to incorporate in my daily life. Sometimes it's been easy, other times pretty challenging.

In the past few years, it's been interesting seeing how much more commonplace terms like environmentally conscious, sustainable and eco-friendly are tossed about. As we've become more aware of the issues that we as a planet are facing with climate change and our future, we're starting to take things into our own hands as consumers. New brands are entering the marketplace that are environmentally aware. Bloggers, instagram and ticktock are full of advice. From creating your own cleaning products to growing your own vegetables at home - at least it makes the social media feed a happy scroll as opposed to doomsday scrolling!

Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming though. Who should we follow, what should we use, which brands are reliable, are ethics involved in the production of a product as well as it just being 'sustainable'? And what does sustainable even mean, really?! So these are some of the topics that I'll be covering and sharing my findings with you all. As well as sharing other blogs and social media channels that are worth a read or follow!

As to my background in this and why now - I went to University as a mature student, to study Wildlife Conservation and then somehow found myself on a Master's course in Science, Technology and Society at UCL, focusing on whether smartphone apps help to engage teenagers in conservation issues. I'm now looking at businesses and working out ways that they can become more sustainable.

However, as I've studied more and slowly been switching over to a more sustainable ways of doing things, people keep asking me for advice on how to do the same.

So this is it...it's a starting point, for myself, the blog and maybe anyone else interesting on coming on this sustainably living journey with me.
